If you've treated yourself to a premium quality candle then please read these candle care instructions to get the very best from your candle.

Trim your wick: Before every burn of any of your candes you should trim the wick to remove excess debris.  Simply trim off any burnt wick with your fingers or scissors leaving 0.5cm of wick to light.

WHY? - Trimming the wicks will keep the candle burning with less soot and it will give your candle a longer burn time with a nice steady flame.  When a wick gets too long it cannot draw wax all the way up to the wick. Therefore, the wick itself will start to burn and give off soot. The wick may become heavy and fall into the melted wax making it impossible to light again.

Burning times: It is strongly advised not to burn your candle for any longer than 4 hours at a time.  Make sure you burn your candles for a minimum of 2 hours and maximum of 4 hours to get the most out of your candle. This is most important on the first burn to induce the correct wax memory. Resist the urge to burn it for only 30mins to see what it smells like!

WHY? - Burning your candle for too long can cause your melt pool to become large, resulting in a larger flame, smoking, and an overheated jar. Take a look at the instructions on the bottom of your candle for general candle safety guidance. Have you ever found that your candles begin to burn through the middle, leaving a thick layer of wax around the walls of the candle? This is called tunnelling.  In some cases this is unavoidable as your candle may have the incorrect wick in place and has not been created or tested correctly by the manufacturer. However, our candles are formulated to burn evenly.
